IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Violet May
Mcninch
November 27, 1924 – June 1, 2023
Violet M McNinch, 98, of Interlochen, passed away peacefully June 1, 2023, at her home with her daughters by her side. She was born in Wyandotte, Michigan, November 27, 1924, to Ernest and Elizabeth (Fletcher) Hastings where she lived her childhood years.
On a family camping trip, she met her soon-to-be husband, LeeRoy R McNinch. They were married October 10, 1942, just three months prior to Violet graduating high school. Violet stayed behind and finished school while her young husband went away to fight in WWII. After graduating, she followed him from naval base to naval base in their Model A, without even a driver's license. She loved to tell stories of their adventures to her children and grandchildren.
After leaving the Navy, they settled back down in Wyandotte and began their long life together and started a family: Thomas R (Jeanette) McNinch was first, followed by Elizabeth M McNinch, Suzaine A (Robert) Schroeter, and Gwendolynn J (Michael) Stinson.
Grandchildren: Heather (William) Middleton, Holly Bos, Sally (John) Kolarik, Fred (Rebecca) McNinch, Meggan Stinson, Jakob (Samantha) Stinson, Katie (Matthew) Clark, and Michael (Katherine) Stinson
Great-grandchildren: Jared (Jenna Mysliwiec) Middleton, Sarah (Samuel) Means, Alex McNinch, Jakob Bos, Audinet and Parker Clark, Lewis, Edgar and Annabelle Stinson
Great-great grandchildren: Thomas and Warren Middleton
Violet had an unending love for her family. She would babysit, have sleepovers, and take her grandchildren on trips. She would get right down on the floor and play Barbies, babies, Legos, army, or whatever else their imaginations could create.
Second in her life was always her cats and dogs. She had a passion for anything with four legs, taking them into her home at a moment's notice. Her last was a loving and devoted little tyrant chihuahua named Bubba.
Violet truly enjoyed her long career as a realtor/broker, opening her own office, Hometown Realty in Interlochen, Michigan, with her husband. She worked every day until the age of 97.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Taylor and Mary from Promedica Hospice. We couldn't have asked for more qualified, caring professionals. They were always there when needed. Violet was able to stay in her home, on the lake, until her very last day because of them. For that, we are very grateful.
Preceding her in death were: her husband, LeeRoy (Mac); her son, Thomas and daughter, Elizabeth; her brother, Ernest Hastings; and grandson-in-law, Timothy Bos.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, 511 S. Garfield Avenue, Traverse City, Michigan 49686. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Interlochen. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
Given Violet's love for animals, in lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to AC Paw.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
