Mrs. Virginia Marie Oomen, age 92, of Hart, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014. She was born February 23, 1922, in Crystal Township daughter of John and Mabel (Conkle) Smith. Virginia graduated from Hart High School in 1941. She married Henry "Hank" Oomen on April 11, 1942 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Virginia was a homemaker and worked in the canning industry for both the Burnette Canning Company and Silver Mills Canning Factory. She was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elbridge. Her hobbies included working in her yard and raising flowers for her porch in the summer. She also enjoyed crochet work, making over 30 afghans that she shared with her children, grandchildren and friends. Virginia was born, raised and resided in Crystal Township most of her life.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Oomen; two sons, John H. (Vickie) Oomen and Eugene R. (Elaine) Oomen; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Henry on April 20, 1988 and her parents.
A private Funeral Service for Mrs. Oomen will be held at the King Funeral Home in Hart with Father Thomas Bolster officiating.
