Mr. Walter D. Dodds, age 79 of Rothbury, died Saturday, May 1, 2010. He was born in Crystal Valley on December 28, 1930 to Darwin and Myrtle (Howard) Dodds. Mr. Dodds was a lifelong resident and was a 1949 Graduate of Hart High School. He married the former Susan Johnson at the Hart United Methodist Church on August 30, 1985. Mr. Dodds was employed as a lineman for Great Lakes Energy, until his retirement in 1993. He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1952-1954. Walter attended the Hart United Methodist Church and was a member of the Hart VFW Post 1329. He is survived by his wife Susan Dodds of Rothbury; children, Tonya Shelter of Lansing, MI, Sara Dodds of Lake City, MI, Treena Dodds of California, Walter Daniel (Karen) Dodds of Wiedman, MI, Amy (Allan) Sailor of Kentucky, Kelly (Ken) Alfrejd of Montague, Mark Slocum of Rothbury; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Carol) Dodds of Hart. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Dodds. The Funeral Service for Mr. Dodds will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Tate-King Funeral Home with Pastor Ben B. Lester officiating. Interment will be in the Mears Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Hart VFW Post 1329 and the Hart American Legion Post 234. Visitation will be Monday 6-8 P.M. at the Tate-King Funeral Home and Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Oceana County Medical Care Facility or the American Cancer Society.
