Walter Gordon Harthun, 81, of Ludington, died Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.  He was born December 10, 1943, in Detroit, the son of Walter and Virginia (Gramza) Harthun.

Walt served in the US Marine Corps where he was stationed in Hawaii for 4 years.  Afterwards he went to work for Packaging Corp of America in Manistee where he retired after almost 50 years of employment.  In his spare time. Walt loved racing his 1969 Roadrunner. He also enjoyed watching old John Wayne western movies, especially with popcorn, being outdoors, and collecting flashlights.  Most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Walt is survived by: 4 children, Heather Harthun of Ludington, Stacy (Crystal) Harthun of Manistee, Mathew (Alisha) Harthun of Bear Lake,and Angela (Mark) Harthun-Cone of Kaleva; 9 grandchildren, Shayna Tetzlaff, Shanna Tetzlaff, Darren Guzikowski, Danika Tracy, Mariah Harthun, Trevor Harthun, Alyvia Harthun, Kyle Cone and Karra Cone; his brother, Arnold (Bonnie) Harthun of Manistee; his sister, Sharon Cook of Caledonia; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.

Walt was preceded in death by: his wife, Judith Harthun in 2017; and his son, Vincent Harthun.

A celebration of Walt's life will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 1-3 PM, at 4343 North Beaune Road, Ludington, Michigan, 49431.
