Walter "Mick" M. McPherson, 89, of Kingsley, died Friday, October 4, 2024, at home with his family by his side.  He was born September 4, 1935, in Newberry, the son of Christopher and Florence (Caswell) McPherson.

Mick was a member of St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir for 60 years.  In addition to being a gifted vocalist, Mick was a musician; he played the mandolin in a local band that frequently played wedding receptions.

Mick worked for the State of Michigan in various capacities, primarily as a baker at the State Hospital.  He was able to enjoy an early retirement and kept busy bowling, hunting, fishing, and even making homemade wine.  Mick will be remembered as a good and selfless man who always put the needs of others before his own.  Everyone was family to Mick and he treated them as such.  He will be missed forever and his legacy of kindness will live on through those he loved.

Mick is survived by: his sons, Chris (Barb), Mike (Deb), Ed (Patty), and Don; son-grandson, Kipper (Cass); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Loretta Clement and Sam McPherson.

Mick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Rosetta McPherson; parents; and siblings, Christine Monk and Fred McPherson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church, in Kingsley with Father Joseph Muszkiewicz celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, 200 N. Brownson Avenue, Kingsley, Michigan  49649, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will also be held from 11:00 AM until time of Mass on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church.
