Mrs. Wanda Irene Robinson, age 88, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Hart, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012. She was born August 20, 1923, in Elbridge Township to Lawrence and Ruth (Goodrich) Slocum. She graduated from Hart High School and then attended vocational school to become a beautician. Wanda married Delbert F. Kokx on June 2, 1945. They were married forty-two years when he passed away on June 15, 1987. She married Elbert Robinson on June 30, 1988, and he died August 3, 2004.

Wanda loved mothering her children, Christianity, raising and preserving food, sewing, culturing roses and watching wild birds. Later in life she nurtured orchids, researched family genealogy, did volunteer service for the community, raised three parrots, and enjoyed her extended family. Her activities deeply touched many lives.

Wanda is survived by her eight children, Dayle (Gale) Kokx of Littleton, CO, Karel (John Verhagen) Rogers of Newark, MO, Nick (Pat) Kokx of Grand Rapids, MI, Dan Kokx of Gregory, MI, Mary Jo (Kent) Kattelman of Newark, MO, Jean (Gary Schurman) Kokx of Boyne City, MI, Paul (Annmarie) Kokx of Waterford, MI, and Tara (Bill) Fox of Port Charlotte, FL; nineteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sisters, Waneita (Wayne) Dipner, Emma Jane (Ray) Brice, Shirley Ann (Paul) Draper; her brothers, Jerry (Phyllis) Slocum, Ted (Judith) Slocum; and her sister-in-law, Agnes Kokx.

The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Robinson was offered Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. St. Gregory Catholic Church in Hart with Father Thomas Bolster celebrating. Interment was in the Elbridge Township Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be directed to Dominican Sisters, Director of Development, 2025 East Fulton Street, Grand Rapids, MI 49503-3895.
