Mr. W.C. (Bill) Devereaux, age 85, of Pentwater, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Ludington.
He was born August 22, 1925 in Howell, Michigan to Claude W. and Ruth E. (Smith) Devereaux. Bill graduated from Michigan State and served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He married Betty K. Maas on August 21, 1948 in Howell.
He worked in the insurance field for many years and retired from Bloggett Hospital where he worked in Risk Management. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Pentwater and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus of Ludington. He also belonged to the MSU Alumni Association.
Mr. Devereaux is survived by his wife, Betty of Pentwater; four daughters, Christine (Jim) O'Brien of South Carolina, Patricia (Tom) Johnson of Lansing, Jacalyn (David) Woodley of Pentwater and Ann Marie Devereaux of Grand Rapids; three grandchildren, Jamie (Michael) Hawkins of South Carolina, Jeremy T. (Kassi) O'Brien of Florida and Katey (Eric) Jackson of North Carolina; and ten great-grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Devereaux are Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. in Pentwater with Rev. Fr. Phillip Sliwinski officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at King Funeral Home in Hart. The family asks that those wishing to give a more lasting memorial to consider the Alzheimer Association of Michigan.
