Mr. Wesley L. VandenBroek, age 95, of Mears, passed away Monday, December 19, 2016, at his home.  He was born May 15, 1921, in Grand Rapids to Cornelius and Myrtle (Welsheimer) VandenBroek.  He was employed at Brunswick Corporation. In 1949 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he married Margaret Levand. He served in the Navy during World War II. Wesley was a member of the Boy Scouts. He loved all types of animals, always having dogs, but was partial to his two feline friends Ziggy and Midnight.

Wesley is survived by his wife: Margaret VandenBroek; one sister: Eloise DeVos of Grand Rapids, MI; four nieces, Barbara (Bill) Proos of Sparta, MI; Mary (Joe) Sycterz of Virginia; Kathy Thompson of Montague, MI; Wanda (Terry) Goodenough of Rockford, MI; one nephew, Terry (Mary) McFarland of Newaygo, MI  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia Goldsmith, brother, Casey VandenBroek.

The Memorial Service for Mr.  VandenBroek will be Friday, December 30, 2016, at 1:00 pm at West Golden Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Ron Rickard officiating.  Visitation will be Friday from one hour prior to the service at West Golden Wesleyan Church, 2752 North 34th Avenue, Mears, MI.  The family requests that any memorials be directed to Oceana County Humane Society, 2185 West Base Line Road, Shelby, MI 49455
