William Edward Cavanaugh, 75, of Whitehall passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018. He was born December 18, 1942, to William II and Kathryn Cavanaugh.

Bill worked for SAPPI for many years. Sadly, Bill's first wife, Nancy, passed away in 1989. In 1991, he married the former Jacquelyn Schieber, and, together, they were blessed with 26 years of marriage. He operated the Cavanaugh Karate Club and coached boxing. He founded the White Lake Boxing Club where he mentored many young kids and took them under his wing. Bill lived for his family. He enjoyed playing guitar, dancing, animals, gardening, and working in his garage. He was often referred to as "Animal" and "Wild Bill," but he was a helpful, compassionate, genuine man. He will be deeply missed.

Bill is survived by his wife Jackie; children, Kathy Broton, Jacqui (Deon) Ervin, Tami (Todd) Jacobs, and Bili Cavanaugh; stepchildren, Eric (Kim) Scott, Angie (Michael) Stafford, and Chris (Jennifer) Scott; grandchildren, Samantha, Ryan, Michaela, Ariana, Jordan, Unique, David, Aaron, Grace, Hannah, Jenna, Tyler, Kaitlynn, Michael Jr., Nathan, Isabelli, and Joshua; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Colleen (Terry) Mikkelson; sister-in-law, Lorna Cavanaugh; best friend Pete Damm; and his fur babies, Rita, Sam, and Sassy.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy; his parents; brother, Robert Cavanaugh; and sister, Karen (Jim) Blamer.

A celebration of life visitation will take place from 12-2 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service-White Lake Chapel, 413 S. Mears Ave, Whitehall. Interment will take place in Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Bill can be made to Bellwether Harbor Animal Shelter in Fremont.
