William "Bill" David Edwardson, 74, of Elk Rapids, Michigan, passed on at home peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

Bill was born in Ferndale, MI, on December 6, 1947. He moved to Elk Rapids in 1961. This is where he met the love of his life and best friend, Kathy. While attending high school at Elk Rapids Public School, he was an all-conference athlete in football, basketball, and track. He was also an all-state football quarterback and for the quarter mile race in track. He graduated cum laude and went on to graduate from Central Michigan University to have become a beloved teacher and coach at Elk Rapids Public Schools. Bill coached the 1975 State Runner-Up Cross Country team. He also coached middle school girls and boys basketball, and high school girls track team. Bill honorably served in the US Army National Guard for 6 years. He was a sharpshooter and tank commander. He married Kathleen "Kathy" Sarasin on June 13, 1970.  Together they built a beautiful family.

Bill had a passion for music. He loved attending concerts, his favorite being "Rush." He was known in Elk Rapids as an excellent golfer and won the club championship in 1982. Coin collecting also kept him busy. Bill was also a big fan of University of Michigan sports and always hoped to see the Detroit Lions go on to the Super Bowl. Bill loved traveling in his adult years with his wife, Kathy, Hawaii being their special place.

After retiring from Elk Rapids Public Schools, Bill was a Realtor, where he was acknowledged with several awards and loved showing the Elk Rapids area to newcomers. Bill enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in extracurricular activities.

Bill is survived by: his wife, Kathy; his sons, Bill (Amy) and Chad (Jill) Edwardson; his grandchildren, Olivia and James, and Catherine and Collin Edwardson; and his brothers, Ed (Ginnie), Jim (Ann) and Walt (Leslie) Edwardson.

He will be greeted in heaven by: his parents, Bill and Ruth Edwardson; his son, Jason Philip Edwardson; and many other loved ones.

The family will receive friends at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Elk Rapids Chapel, on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Christian service and burial will be at Elk Rapids Bible church at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2022. Military honors will be performed under the auspices of AmVets Post 114.
