William “Bill” Kropf, 71, of Michigan, passed away on September 18, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a lifetime of memories that will be told for generations. He was born on July 6, 1955, to Martin and Shirley (Collet) Kropf, in Shelby, MI.

Bill grew up in Montague, Michigan, and spent his life there, graduating from Montague High School, Class of 1973. A hardworking and proud man, he built his career in auto body repair and later retired from Don Rypma, where he was known for his skill, craftsmanship, and commitment to doing things right.

Bill was always happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. Bill loved spending time in the sun, on the lake, or anywhere his family was. He loved celebrating his daughters' and grandchildren’s milestones, sporting, and school events. Some of Bill’s happiest memories were made on his boat in Lake Michigan, jumping the waves, eating pretzels, and playing music too loud.

Bill will be remembered as a wonderful father and proud grandfather. Bill was goofy, stubborn, and UN-apologetically himself. He loved an inappropriate joke, often at exactly the wrong time, and somehow made everyone laugh when they probably shouldn’t. He was set in his ways and never wanted anyone to fuss over him, although those who knew him best, knew he secretly enjoyed it. All of his family and friends will deeply miss Bill. The memories created with Bill will be cherished for generations to come.

Bill is survived by: his daughters, Beth (Jeff) Gorkisch and LeAnne (Mike) Scheidegger; grandchildren, Dylan and River Gauthier and Liam Leitz; bonus grandchildren, Samuel, Briana, Jacob, Madison, Morgan, Stacia, Marissa, James, and Harmony; his sisters, Lois (Tom) Bratsburg and Carolen Alvesteffer; his little brother and best friend, Ed (Kim) Kropf; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by: his father, Martin Kropf; mother, Shirley (Everett) Lehman; brother, David Kropf; sister, Susan (John) Potter; and granddaughter, Samantha Gauthier.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, Michigan, 49461, with visitation being held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM.  Please dress comfortably and casually as we come together to celebrate a wonderful man and his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree in his memory.
