Obituary

William L. Leemhuis, age 88, passed away January 29, 2011 at Lakeshore Community Hospital in Shelby. He was born August 14, 1922 in Hart to Otto and Rose (Fletcher) Leemhuis.

He graduated from Hart High School in 1940 and owned Leemhuis Grocery Store from 1946 to 1953. He married Marian Taylor on May 3, 1947 at the Hart Congregational United Church of Christ. Mr. Leemhuis served his country with the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He worked at the Hart Post Office as clerk, retiring after twenty-three years of service. He loved to fish.

Mr. Leemhuis is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Marian Leemhuis of Hart; four children, Jane Leemhuis and Carl Leemhuis of Hart; Donald Leemhuis of Safford, Arizona and David Leemhuis of Muskegon; one sister, JoAnn Allard of Phoenix, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John "Jack" Leemhuis.

A memorial service for Mr. Leemhuis will be held Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at King Funeral Home in Hart with Pastor Dennis Foley officiating.
