Mr. William M. Gardy, age 88, of Pentwater passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 in Grand Rapids. He was born in Flint, Michigan on May 6, 1929 to George and Mary (Seiwart) Gardy. Bill was a WWII veteran of the US Navy and had received the Navy Victory Medal. Mr. Gardy was employed as a steel cutter for General Motors-Buick Division in Flint, from 1950, until his retirement in 1980. Bill married the former Joyce E. Setterington on September 11, 1951 at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Pentwater.

Bill was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, Lifetime VFW Post 6017 of Pentwater, and UAW Local 599. He was talented in the construction trades, carpentry, electrical and plumbing. With those talents Bill had constructed three homes. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting with Matt, dancing and roller skating. He had also been a Boy Scout leader.

Mr. Gardy is survived by one daughter, Cindy (Jerry Close) Mendenhall of Traverse City; two sons, Kenneth (Carol) Gardy of Georgia and William (Diane) Gardy of Pentwater; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister in law, Sharon Gardy of Caro, MI. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Joyce E. Gardy on April 19, 2015; one daughter, Colleen Gardy on December 2, 2015; two brothers, Max and George Gardy; one sister in law, Irene Gardy.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Gardy will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 am from Beacon Cremation and Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel with Pastor Melanie Young officiating. Interment will be in the Pentwater Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel.
