William Edward Voss (Skip), 67, passed away in his sleep at his South Boardman, MI home on August 2, 2021.

Born on August 5, 1953, to Charles and Lillian Voss of Lapeer, MI, Skip attended Lapeer public schools and graduated from Lapeer High School in 1971. Skip spent most of his career working for the State of Michigan, first at the State Hospital in Kalamazoo, then for the Michigan Army National Guard Training Center in Grayling, from which he retired.

Skip was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by his wife/life partner of 40 years, Marilyn Aberlich, of Traverse City; his daughter Lily Voss (Zach Green) of Grand Rapids and his grandsons, Tyler and Ian; his daughter Mae Magee (Jesse) of Fife Lake; his brother Dick Voss (Mary Linn); his brother Joe Voss (who was pre-deceased by wife, Sonia); sister Kathy Clifton (Danny); and numerous nieces and nephews. Skip was pre-deceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Bill Huntley.

In addition to being an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time at the family cabin on Skidway Lake, MI and in his winter home in Thonotosassa, FL, Skip was well known by countless friends as an accomplished and clever euchre player. He loved his MI sports teams and enjoyed cheering on (and sometimes "coaching") both the Tigers and the Lions. No matter where he was, Skip could be found every morning with a cup of coffee and a local newspaper in hand.

Friends and family will fondly recall Skip's enthusiasm for the things he loved: watching his girls play sports as they grew up; attending Rolling Stones' concerts; raising dog after dog; flipping his famous pancakes for overnight guests; and most recently, delighting his grandson with a new match-box car every time he saw him. His passing will leave great sadness, but also countless warm memories, shared among his extended family and his very large group of friends.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Friday, August 27 ^th from 4-7pm at Silver Lake Recreation Area in Traverse City, MI. Should anyone choose to do so, the family asks that donations be made to The Humane Society.
