William Hull
Yeager, Jr.
March 31, 1939 – April 30, 2018
William Hull Yeager, Jr., 79, of Hart, Michigan and formerly of San Diego, California, went to be with his Lord on Monday, April 30, 2018. He was born March 31, 1939 in Lewisburg, West Virginia, to William Hull Yeager and Bertha Elizabeth (Matulis) Yeager. He graduated from Hart High School in 1957 and Central Michigan University with a BME and MA Degree in 1961 and 1965 respectively.
Bill is survived by his twin sister, Carol Burnham of North Carolina, and sister Betty Root of Hart. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Charles David Yeager and William Hull Yeager, Jr. (1934 crib death) and nephew Michael Ryan Yeager.
He taught instrumental and vocal music for 49 years in Michigan and California. Bill received the following distinctions during his career: Teacher of the Year in 1966 (Breckenridge, Michigan), Yearbook Dedication in 1976 (Boron, California), Teacher of the Year in 1985 (Manton, Michigan) and Service Award in 2001 (La Jolla, California). Under his direction, the Boron High Band attended the Invitational Marching Band Festival in Mexico City (1971) and Hawaiian Festival of Music (1981); La Jolla High Band attended the Hawaiian Festival of Music (2000); Christian High Band of San Diego received Gold Awards (superior) at the following national competitions: Chicago (2007), Anaheim 2009), San Antonio (2010) and Seattle (2011).
His students are currently playing professionally in orchestra, teaching music at university level, playing professionally in groups which have toured the U.S. and have attained the level of PhD in performance.
Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hart
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 4, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Hart with Pastor Mark Looman officiating.
