Obituary

Mrs. Willowdean Tiller, age 84, of Grand Haven, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2012. She was born May 11, 1928, in Pentwater to Walter and Vergie (Freeland) Blamer. She graduated from Pentwater High School in1946. She married Robert David Spalding on August 11, 1946, and he preceded her in death in June 1950. On July 24, 1954 she married Burton Francis Masse; he died on December 13, 1989. She married Victor Tiller on April 28, 1972, and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1973, passing away at their home. Mrs. Tiller was employed as a nursing assistant at Oceana Hospital for eleven years, for two years at Grant White Hospice as a coordinator and grief counselor, and for seven and a half years as a private duty caregiver in Lansing.

Mrs. Tiller was very active in the community, in school and civic groups, the PTA, as a den mother for the Cub Scouts, and a Girl Scout Leader. She sang soprano for forty years in the church choir. She enjoyed painting, crafts, and sewing. Family members enjoyed receiving her letters and cards. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her granddaughters and their fellow staff members at Riverside Care Center for their loving care of Willowdean for a year and to the staff at Mercy Hospital CCU during her final days.

Willowdean is survived by four daughters, Sharon Troyer of Muskegon, Teresa (Dennis) Veine of Pentwater, Monica (Charles) Jobin of Spring Lake, and Dena (John) Memmott of Grand Haven; two sons, Gregory (Evie) Spalding of Buchanan, and Robin (Deb) Masse of Pentwater; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Ellen Brown, Linda Eisenlohr and Shelley (Larry) Lentz. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Ronald, James, Richard, Jack, and Walter "Sonny" Blamer. Her sister-in-law, Barbara Blamer, and her brothers-in-law, Chester Eisenlohr and Carl Brown also preceded her in death.

The Funeral service for Mrs. Tiller will be held Monday, July 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Pentwater with Pastor Mark Lillie officiating. Interment will be at Elbridge Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at King Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Michigan.
